Groundhog day

It seems this weeks sewing is exactly the same as last week.
one charity quilt quilted, ready for Sue to sew the binding.
Two peace cranes [fussy photo is a bonus].
Dear jane borders are progressing at their usual slow pace
but the weather forecast for the weekend is  cold
and wet, so hopefully more sewing time.
I did recieve a gift from special friends,
how did they know I have a bit of a problem
with tins? Knowing I don't eat biscuits
the contents have been changed to chocolates.
I am showing great restraint, they aren't all gone yet.
Thanks M & K, I love it

cross stitch

I've been asked many times if I stock
cross stitch kits, well here we go.
Just a small range of 20 different designs to
see how things go.
Almost enough to get me motivated, but I
have plenty on the go at the moment without
starting a new project.
Back in stock are the really cute gutermann tins
of thread.
Either in cotton or polyester, the choice is yours,
and I'm happy to change the colours also.
A great little gift and the tin can be used again
to store your treasures. All for the same price as
4 threads, the tin is not extra charge.

Whidbey Star

The block for this week is
Whidby Star.
Please check your 1/4" seam allowance.
This block will not go together if you are not
accurate, but well worth the effort.

Winter Solstice

The shortest day is behind us, does that mean
the worst of winter is behind us. I think so, I'm
not a fan of walking home from work in the almost
dark. It will still be cold, very cold, but the days will
be slowly drawing out.
My sewing this week has been more hand quilting
of jane, I've started on the borders but what to do with
the alternate triangles? Worry about that when I get there.
Another charity quilt quilted, thanks again to
Sue for hand sewing the binding down.
Two more cranes for my peace crane
quilt.
The dark dreary weather doesn't help my photos
at all, but that is behind us for another year, or
leaving us slowly.

Useless Bay

Interesting name for a very useful block
Useless bay is this weeks sampler block
sorry about the color but Chris's block is the usual
bright while mine is more reproduction.
You should be able to make all your block now
to make your very own "sampler with a difference"

Milestone

I've finally done it!!!
The centre of dear jane is done.
now only the border to do, 52 triangles, 56 alternate
triangles, 4 corners and a scollop border, sounds alot
but the end in in sight.
I've still been sewing my peace cranes this week,
another 2 closer to the 98 I need.

Mystery Quilt

Saturday was the day for our mystery quilt
workshop, after much cutting and a little
last minute fabric buying we could get started.
10 ladies worked very solidly over the day with
lots of sewing, cross cutting and some more sewing
to acheive some great results.
Sharon did really well with her green,
I'm having lots of trouble uploading photos today
so I'll just skip forward a bit to 12 blocks together
with sashing and corner stones. Looking forward to show
and tell. Julieand Marg's brighst, Shannahs retro, Ruth and Hillary
with opposite colour ways and my favorite colour red done by Lyn.

Waterwheel

This weeks sampler quilt block is

waterwheel, 6" or 12".
We had a great show and tell,
Judy's jelly roll quilt,

Pam's chooky table cloth,
Rhonda's hidden wells that she has done an amazing
job of the quilting. We must keep practising and take our time.
and Shannah's huge drunkards path. Made from her own
hand dyed fabrics.

Busy Week

It has been quite a productive week for me,
with 3 charity quilts made.
for the royal childrens hospital in Melbourne
thanks to Sue for hand sewing the binding down for me.
.

some new pots were purchased for the little conifers
given to us by Susan and Martin of Rennie Hotel B&B.
Back to my peace cranes, 2 per week and I'll have them
all done by the end of the year.
Sounds good in theory, reality is a bit different.
and yes a bit more hand quilting of dear jane.
