A Bit Confused

I am truly confused about my last 2 blog posts.

Out of order and both published on the same day,

Not the way I thought I did it. 

But blogger knows best, just go with it.

A bit more of a catch up from my internet free time.

The Folly,

not the best photo but you get the idea,

this quilt is coming together very well.

Just the last border to go, all triangles.

I've pieced  some and thought I would get the 

corners right first, or try to.

A finish.

I've never been organised so early.

Back on line

After quite a while with no internet I'm back.

A power outage and a really bad isp sent 

me off line for a few weeks.

Something you don't hear very often,

telstra to the rescue.

But then I realised now much stitching I got done

when I was not spending so much time on the internet

so I put myself on ban,

 but I miss my blog, my stitching diary.

If other people read that is great,

if not it is still my stitching diary.

So to catch up on what I have been stitching 

these four corner blocks have been appliqued

for the folly

joined the the other blocks that had already been pieced

for the next border.

then the second sawtooth border.

what a difference.

next more cutting for the final border.

Lots and lots of triangles

Lots and lots of stitching.

But I have become a bit distracted

by this box

this tin

and this book.

Time to turn the computer off and get back to my stitching

This Time Last Week

It was only last Sunday that I took myself off to 

Melbourne to the craft and quilt show.

Train. tram and automobile and I was there.

 Sunday, always the best day to go, much more relaxed,

not the big crowds, and you can talk to the traders,

 designers and quilt makers

 The quilt show was amazing, congratulations to everyone

who exhibited.

The quilts this year really appealed to me.

a few favorites

love a two colour quilt  especially red

star burst, one my list for someday

star a day, my currant hand quilting project

inspiring applique

amazing 1/4" hexagons.

 I can admire the work. but I am never going there.

I was not as impressed with the stall holders,but that might be my

fabric diet.

I bought Caroline Konig's new book, beautiful.

and a new ruler for 60' and 45' diamonds In sizes from

1 inch up to 4 inches cut

I thought I had better have a play before I forgot

how easy this is supposed to be.

Yes very easy.

I really enjoy making these stars and would like to 

[one day]

make a seven sisters quilt. So this ruler will be great.

I also saw another star quilt on the internet that I can now have a go at.

Now what size star should I make.

The BEST part of the day was catching up with friends.

I miss you ladies sooo much.

New ProjecS

Yes, you read right I've started a new project.

This year I WAS supposed to ONLY work

on UFO'S but I only lasted until April.

not the best at keeping resolutions.

These UFO'S could be anything from my cupboard,

from just needing to be finish off, to a complete new 

start, just as long as I did NOT buy anything, or too much.

If you could see my cupboard you would understand that

is not a big ask.

But a new pattern took my fancy

It's not really a new pattern just new to me. 

From Viv's creations  2003.

Santa and his reindeer could look good flying across

the office, plenty of time to do them before 

Christmas.

But I couldn't wait, put aside all other stitching so I could start.

Santa has been traced.

He has a patchwork quilt over his knees to keep

out the northern hemisphere chills.

Rudolph, the star of the show is already stitched.

All is not lost,

the fabric and most of the threads 

came from the cupboard.

I only bought the pattern, some threads, weave line

and bag wadding to make them stand up better.

So I am still doing my little bit for the 

economy.

Update

It's been a while I know but a lot has happened in

my absence,

I attended a hens night

A very long time since I have been

 to one of these. A bit of fun and a very attractive waiter. 

This was followed by a wedding.

The happiest I have ever been to with a very beautiful

bride.  Of course.

Work has been extra busy, which I great.

 The time certainly flies.

I lasted until April to break a new year resolution.

Yes I have started a new project,

 at least the fabric has come out of the stash.

It's only a bit of fun, but more on that later.

Time for a folly update

I had made one of these,

Now there are eight

I made this mess

and turned it into this,

and then all these.

Two more to go.

Then some applique, join them all together 

for the next border.

I do feel like I am getting somewhere.

All Done

Leanne's house

 'block of the month'

is done and six years later it turned into 

'block of the week'

the embroidery part of it at least.

so here it is block 9   finished

a close up of some parts of the block,

this reminds me of the people I miss.

all together complete with a border.

Just one simple 4" blue

so much like "journey of a quilter"

they will have to hang in the same room,

eventually, I do plan to hand quilt this one also.

still stitching along at a steady pace,

Block 8 is finished.

time to start thinking about borders or maybe no border at all?
