Visitors

Still keeping up with my stars.

But of more different interest
a couple of unusual visitors to the
garden.

Two King Parrots decided to spend
a few days at our place.

A bit camera shy,
but I think they enjoyed the fig tree.

Certainly a change from the usual
kookaburra's
wren's
honey eater's
parrots
and finches.

Organized Chaos

"Star a day" update

7 more stars this week.

This week has also seen
production of a different sort.

a new ironing board cover,
so I have not been totally obsessed with stars.

I have a retreat planned for the near
future so while I had a chance I decided to get
myself a little organised, instead of the usual
last minute rush.
Remember these?

I plan to play with these on my weekend away.
Hopefully turn them into a few blocks for my
long term New York Beauty

But this is the mess I started with.
Hope I can make sense if it in the end.

More Show and Tell

A follow on from last weeks sewing day
for Corowa Quilters.
More show and tell.

Amazing hand sashiko from Hilary.
Beautiful and so different from the norm,
mauve and an interesting layout.
Thanks to her daughter Bec for that suggestion.

Sharron had a very classic blue and white
irish chain that she made for a friends birthday,
lucky friend.
The quilting is amazing.
She is a very talented quilter.

A better view for the quilting on
 Sharron's quilt.

SHOW ENTRIES

Two Months

Two months down and
ten to go. Sounds easy, but at times
it is a bit of an effort to keep up. What
with life getting in the way of
what I want to do.
I am up to date with my
"star a day"

This weeks stars.

I've started to join some of my stars
together. I really feel like I'm getting
somewhere, and hopefully it will reduce
the chance loosing any stray blocks.

Week 9

Another weeks worth of
star a day blocks.

I am really enjoying the
repetitiveness of these,
no thinking required,
but lots of fun with the fussy cutting.
click on picture for a closer view.

Show and Tell

A couple of new quilts from a couple of
talented ladies.

First is Julie's bargello
orange and yellow with a splash of red.
It reminds her of a sunrise
so it's called tequila
sunrise.

Ruth's african quilt for her grandsons
18th birthday.
This lady has very good time
management skills,
she fits so much into her day.

Well done both of you.
Beautiful quilts.

My Country

What an amazing country we live in,
Out of control bushfires and record breaking floods,
all at the same time.

I love a sunburnt country
A land of sweeping plains
Of rugged mountain ranges
Of drought and flooding rains
I love her far horizons
I love her jewel seas
Her beauty and her terror
The wide brown land for me

Perhaps this Gumnut range of fabric could
be used the to depict our land.

20 great colours.
