Good-bye 2013

Well what a year 2013 has been
Who would have thought I would have had such changes,
certainly not me.
A new year, a new home, in a new town,
a new career and a completely new
life style.
It's all good.

So stitching plans for the new year.
The one thing that I really do want to finish is
my star-a-day quilt.

It is all pieced, just to be quilted.
This is my present to myself for my big O birthday.
My way of working into it slowly,
 hoping to enjoy the journey.

The next challenge is the folly.

started with this

and I have slowly moved into here.
Enjoying the slow stitching.

Hoping everyone enjoys a safe, healthy
and happy new year.

Stitching Report

In my absence what have I been stitching?
I have really really been enjoying some slow stitching,
not a sewing machine in sight.

Star-a day is done.
The big project for the year,

all pinned and ready to quilt. Hand quilting of course.
I have used a flannelette backing for a very soft and snuggly
feel, so no start on the quilting until the weather cools.

the next quilt to take shape has been

this red and white shoo-fly quilt.
Big stitch quilted so it should not have taken
as long as it did, but 2mt square slowed me down.
This is a finish so yes the sewing machine did come
out for the binding.

It was this time last year I promised to finish this
quilt,

not done.

BUT
well on the way

almost all the large motifs are done, only
small spaces and the border to do.

The next project on the way is the folly.
More on that next time.

I'm Back

I never intended to be away for so long.
I wanted  break, I needed a break.
Not just from blogging, but everything.
So what have I been doing.

I have been to places like this,
and thought of retirement.

Seen some of these.
Yes it is a sun rise, I don't normally see that hour of the day.

and driven on plenty of country roads,
not all with trees over them.

saw some really interesting places

ate some interesting food

met some interesting animals,
no they did not become to food.
Not on that day.

This little car certainly took us to some different places,
but now we are onto a new life adventure.

More on that next time.
Until then

Slow Stitching Week

Not much to show this week,
only 7 stars

just pressed in time for a photo.
You would think an unemployed person
could find more time for the stitching obsession
in the life.
Maybe next week

My Show and Tell

I was very pleased with myself at sewing
last week. I had show and tell. So
pleased I forgot to take a photo.
Well here it is, taken later
on the lawn at home.

and in it,s new home.
On the sewing cabinet.

All very tidy, lets see how long it can stay this way.

Other sewing this week has been
of course
7 more stars

and a bit of big stitch quilting

This should not take to long, if only
I can keep focused.

Another Month

Another month has passed by in a flash,
it's well into June now. How does this happen so
quickly? Are we all getting older? Is this something
old people say?

Back to the subject, show and tell.
Saturday was our monthly sewing day
and another great show and tell.

Lyn's hand quilted bargello,

Julie's latest creation,
a modern take on Dresden plate.

A reserve baby quilt from Shannah.

Another from Shannah,
a mystery quilt from last year, all
quilted and ready for the
stitched up festival in Wangaratta.

Once again Ruth has out done she self,
a red and black quilt for her Essendon supporting son

and this is the back.

anther lovely day.

A Little Lost

I've lost my way a little this week,
I just do not know where the
time has gone, but I have still managed
to get some stitching time.

keeping up with my "star a day" challenge.

been playing around with the layout
of new york beauty, I think this is it,
or maybe a couple of changes to come.

and the hand quilting bug has bitten so
most other things will come to a stop or
at least a slow. This quilt top [table topper] is only small
so should be done in the next couple of weeks.
